"Yearning for that DLC?"

If your wallet’s burning and you’re constantly yearning for DLC-earning, then this is a story and a half. Or half of a story, if you want it to relate to the post’s content. Ahem. There’s a huge LittleBigSale, during which every costume pack, level kit, et cetera will be hacked down in price to a more monetarily-manageable set of numbers. That’s right, all your favourite DLC collections will now be subject to a brutal pecuniary shortening so you can download ‘em like nobody’s looking. So, had you saved an extra few pennies in your PlayStation Store account, you might be able to check out and checkout with some fabulous new goodies. Good going!

There's always Cross-Buy too!

As usual, the whole Cross-Buy compatibility ensues, very much proportionate with the avid interest in LittleBigPlanet and its portable and karting counterparts. Luckily, most of the DLC is cross-compatible, so you can wear your favourite costumes within (or without) the other games… you’re having fun on so many levels!

<![CDATA[Tearaway - Check Out the E3 Trailer & Pre-Order Today!]]>Tue, 18 Jun 2013 18:25:36 GMThttp://www.littlebigjourney.net/2/post/2013/06/tearaway-check-out-the-e3-trailer-pre-order-today.html

What is Tearaway?

Surely you should know by now, Tearaway is a lovely-looking and upcoming 3D platformer adventure which stars Iota or Atoi, a paper-crafted messenger with a specific and unique message to deliver to the player. With an instantly charming plot, attractive backdrops and innovative use of the PS Vita’s control system makes this a highly appealing game for virtually any type of gamer.

Okay, so back the the post...

Tearaway is due for release soon, like a very much-anticipated child of expecting parents. Or something. Yes, with the release date closing up to our steadily-advancing amalgam of entropy which we more commonly refer to as “time”, we’re growing our interest and an increasing pace. Pretty soon we’re going to be the avid reporters with our noses pressed firmly against the window that is the insight to the shiny, gaudy Tearaway.

Yes, it’s that bloody good. With the pre-order incentives wrapped around our minds – those of us who aren’t living under a papercraft rock, that is – dare I say the unleashing of this interactive piece of heaven will be one to remember. You should probably go and pre-order it now, since you’re wasting valuable time, and time is money, so you’re wasting money. Yeah, it’s not looking great for you. Go!

<![CDATA[LittleBigPlanet Vita - What's in the New?]]>Fri, 14 Jun 2013 21:46:35 GMThttp://www.littlebigjourney.net/2/post/2013/06/littlebigplanet-vita-whats-in-the-new.html

"Among Other Things..."

This one’s for the portable protégés out there who can’t get enough of the inspirational LittleBigPlanet Vita game. You’ll be pretty familiar with the trends on the handheld system lately, and we’re here to herd all those metaphorical news sheep into the glorious, pristine pen of LittleBigJourney. Come forth, heed the words and spread the news like the common cold. In England. We’re delighted to echo the recent LittleBigPlanet Vita 1.12 update which contains a bug fix for your profiles and additional DLC data (though we’re certain that there’s DLC data with most patches anyway) and with this intuitive smack to the face of profile bugs you’ll no
longer be restricted from viewing your own profile page. Yes, this means you can find your hearted levels, players, reviews, your description and you can even change your own avatar again! Woo! This is a glorious day, so why don’t you give the LittleBigPlanet franchise’s younger brother a quick seeing to?

Woo! This is a glorious day, so why don’t you give the LittleBigPlanet franchise’s younger brother a quick seeing to?

How about them Team Picks?

During your father-to-son administrative ‘quality time’ as such, you might want to go over and check out the newest Team Picks available for your playing pleasure. If you’re a fan of BioShock, or platformers in general, or maybe puzzle levels, or a few scenic levels, maybe something new and fresh? Well, you've certainly come to the right place. Even though I just told you to go to Team Picks. You’ll find something worthwhile in this pile of gleaming, glossy, glow-in-the-dark greats, there’s absolutely no doubt about it.

Hey, maybe you’d want to check out the cool levels, too? Luckily for LittleBigPlanet Vita, the levels displayed in this rather fine array of trendy, hip playgrounds are much more refined and generally adequate for newcomers to the ‘Play, Create, Share’ scene, so you should consider digging into the more mainstream levels as promoted by the generous algorithms behind the fibers and finicky flue of the game that you’d probably never want to touch (or tilt) with a fairly lengthy barge pole.

All in all, it’s been a fabulous week for the portable players. Get cracking on what the team have in store for you!

<![CDATA[LittleBigPlanet Community - 8 Million Levels!]]>Fri, 07 Jun 2013 19:08:39 GMThttp://www.littlebigjourney.net/2/post/2013/06/littlebigplanet-community-8-million-levels.html

"8 Million Levels Today!"

It’s been a while since the last mark that LittleBigPlanet has slammed to the floor in a fit of enthusiasm, but we’re here yet again. In fact, this one was quite the creeper. Not highly anticipated, but we’re at another scratch of the total level count. Ladies and gentlemen – 8 million levels!

That’s a lot of levels. To put it in perspective, that’s an average of 4,748 levels per day, or 3 levels per minute, since the very beginning of LittleBigPlanet. If each level weighed a single gram, right now the collective weight would be the same as that of an African Bull Elephant
If we were to assume that a level takes around six minutes to complete, on average, then the entire time to complete every single level would be like listening to Rick Astley’s Ultimate Collection around 768,000 times, and consequently being ‘rick-rolled’ 45,176 times in the process. Good going, everyone!

To celebrate, you might want to play some of these eight-million glorious levels. Sure, by Sturgeon’s law, about 90% of them are duds, but here at LittleBigJourney, we implore you to try every level and search for those golden treats of gameplay, scenery and humour (unintentional, or otherwise). You can’t be waiting for much more, so you should get out there and play some levels. Studies show that you have absolutely nothing to lose.

<![CDATA[LittleBigPlanet Games - Let the Summer Begin!]]>Tue, 04 Jun 2013 16:48:57 GMThttp://www.littlebigjourney.net/2/post/2013/06/littlebigplanet-games-let-the-summer-begin.html

"A LittleBigPlanet Summer"

We must open with a sincere apology. You see, with educational matters propping up here, there and everywhere, we’ve had to cut our posts short. The post consistency has been positively disastrous lately; less dense than mildly fruit-flavoured water. Well, we’re aiming to get back on track since it’s the summer now, and we have more time to let the posts flow and flourish, ultimately bringing you some more updates on the future of LittleBigPlanet and its related franchises. We’re just letting you know that we’re back on track now… for now, anyway.
If you’ve been encumbered with a sense of unknowing lately, then fear no longer! With some handy-dandy updates and costumes and level kits and all sorts of neat stuff coming over the upcoming weeks, there’s plenty in store to occupy your insatiable minds. First off… an update - the ever-spoken block feature is underway. If you’ve been living under some form of stone recently, this will be news to you… which is appropriate, since we specialise in news.

Block Function on the Horizon

The block feature will give you the administrative power to say “Hey… no, don’t you dare post that on my profile” to any given sack you desire. Say if you’ve ever encountered a bullying Barry or a slightly-annoying Steve, then you’re now obliged to exile them from your very own profile space! This means no more annoying nuisances speaking in their clique taboo lexicon on your profile… and your levels will stay clean forevermore! No need to worry about those who choose to strategically place those detrimental words of direness in your personal space any longer.

Future Downloadable Content

Now for some fun; we’re expecting some new downloadable content very shortly for the main LittleBigPlanet games. Calm down, Rolf Harris, we don’t know what they are yet. We will update you shortly, but according to official sources (@StevenIsbell) they’re very much worth the wait. This could be in the form of costumes or level kits, but keep your eyes peeled for both. We’re fairly certain there is a lot planned for the summer, considering the amount of time to enjoy everything.

And those Team Picks?

In light of the “amount of time to enjoy everything” notion, we’re also required to remind you that Team Picks are continuing across the board, throughout LittleBigPlanet 2, Vita and Karting. This guarantees us more than 20 notable levels to check out on LittleBigPlanet, and a currently unknown amount of Vita and Karting levels to expect. Keep your eyes open throughout this seemingly never-ending period of time!

So how will you be spending your summer…? Farm vacation, maybe? Feel free to tell us!

<![CDATA[LittleBigPlanet Games - From Creators to Developers]]>Wed, 29 May 2013 14:25:37 GMThttp://www.littlebigjourney.net/2/post/2013/05/littlebigplanet-games-from-creators-to-developers.html

"LittleBigPlanet, the Future"

Do you love creating? Well, surely the answer is yes if you play LittleBigPlanet every now and then. Unlike most gaming communities out there, LittleBigPlanet's community has a special little perk that allows it's biggest fans to actually help develop for the title. Maybe you knew that already, or not. We can still discuss it though in greater detail! Oh, and be warned. Creating isn't always for everyone. Maybe you're the type who just plays levels? Well, it could be for you if practice it enough. "You're never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream", some famous novelist once said.

Your First Steps

Do you remember that very day you stepped into the world of LittleBigPlanet? Of course you do! It's that magical moment when you discovered how much fun you could have with just a single a video game. It's that rather epic moment when you distinguished how creative you could be. I'm talking about that same special moment when you uncovered that LittleBigPlanet was no ordinary platforming game. We all have that very first creation. I know I remember mine, It was a plane. Not a pretty one either. But hey, that was a long time ago and I'm still proud of it! It's what brought me to where I am today. Sure, I'm not the best creator out there, but I've got a great foothold here.

What I'm trying to say is, not only have I learned more about the game since my first creation, but I've also learned a lot more about myself as well. If you set your mind to anything, you can make your wildest and most creative dreams come true. Don't believe me? Tell me then, when you just get finished with that epic level you've just created, do you ever tell yourself: "Yeah, I created that." or "We" if you're the type who collaborates with others when creating. It's just a special feeling knowing you and only you pulled this off from scratch. And that's another thing. If you love collaborating with others, you might be the perfect fit for developing levels for future LittleBigPlanet games.

The Story Behind... The Story

As we all know, the original LittleBigPlanet was created by Media Molecule in 2006-ish. And since then it's become something truly amazing. Media Molecule then saw the true potential of what they've created. They created a community that was capable of pumping out some truly amazing things. And when they saw these things, the figured why not let the very players who play our game develop the next game in the series? And that's exactly what they did. Some of the classic famous creators you know and love in the world of LittleBigPlanet today actually helped develop LittleBigPlanet 2.

Oh, but don't feel left out, you actually helped out too! It was your creative genius that made LittleBigPlanet what it is today. You contributed by pushing amazing LittleBigPlanet's tool set to it's absolute limits. With he creation of your levels and brilliant ideas, Media Molecule took note of the things the community was producing and wanted to expand upon those things. For example, cut-scene levels. In the good-o'l-LittleBigPlanet-age, that was something unheard of. The very creators and curators who created cut-scene type levels by using game cameras and magic mouths are the people who hinted to Media Molecule to add the feature in, in the next installment of the series. But since then, Media Molecule has left the LittleBigPlanet world upto us. Yes, me and you.

Help Develop The Next LittleBigPlanet

Here's where you come into play. You as a creator and a player. We all know what you're capable of, but the real question is. Are you talented enough to develop the future of LittleBigPlanet for the rest of the world? Don't be silly, of course you are! If you show your true potential, you could be hired to help out in the development of the next LittleBigPlanet game. If you think all this is just a hoax, just look at LittleBigPlanet PS Vita, LittleBigPlanet Karting and the pretty much most of the LittleBigPlanet level kits. It's all created by you guys and girls! And if more of you came together and contributed to these things with inspiring choices and whimsical ideas, you could create some pretty amazing things for LittleBigPlanet. The fate of LittleBigPlanet is in your hands guys and girls, and what you do with is is completely up to you. Don't just sit there though, if you've got some free time to spare, get inspired and create some awesome things! You produce the energy that fuels the creative juices that keep LittleBigPlanet running and as long as things stay creative, the energy will never die.
