Picking up your controller or PlayStation®Vita system is always the first and most important step when entering the world of LittleBigPlanet. Theres always fun to have when playing with the online community. And it never ends.

LittleBigPlanet is all about creating. When you create a new level, you can choose to publish it for the entire world to see. You can also check and see what people are saying about your level in the reviews section.
|
Upon creating a level in LittleBigPlanet, you can also give away goodies to the player who play them. These goodies can consist of music, photos, objects, and even keys to unlock other levels.

Even when the game is boiled down to its platforming core, it is still significantly improved. Whereas in the first game we felt we were going through the motions a bit moving from A to B, we have generally found the levels in LittleBigPlanet 2 to be interesting and fun to play. You will find puzzles are now a lot more commonplace such as having a switch to turn off an electric current, as well as jumping puzzles and puzzles which involve objects. The great thing is these puzzles are far from brain benders and you generally will not get stuck, giving you the satisfaction of beating a puzzle without tearing your hair out.

The longevity of LittleBigPlanet was determined by the ease of use of its tool set which was one of the games highlights. LittleBigPlanet 2 is no different; however, it is now possible to build all sorts of different games.
Already on the PSN network you will find games which mimic micro machines, Silent Scope and Left 4 Dead amongst others. The fact that these games can be envisioned in the LBP world proves the power of the tools. They are also easy to use. Jump in, start placing objects, add some gears and play. That won't give you the best level of course, and to do something truly special will take hours if not days or weeks, but it is easy to get into and learn. |

Playing is only the half of it… With LittleBigPlanet you get a fantastic adventure AND the tools which we used to make it - all wrapped up neatly in a simple intuitive thing we like to call Popit.
In Create mode you can use Popit to browse through all the tools, stickers, and decorations collected from the Story mode to build your own levels, toys, or gadgets. Place obstacles, traps, or enemies all from your own devious imagination - you can build anything you’ve seen in the Story mode, or simply draw inspiration from it, and then create something even more complicated and grandiose! You can be a visionary. |

So you're ready to plunge yourself in the very depths of the LittleBigPlanet community, eh ? Tired of playing levels and beginning to feel that creative flow of energy ? Well good for you ! Here are some neat tips to help you be well on your way for creating a level that just might be the next big thing !
Have you played a bad level lately or just seen a level and said to yourself: "Hmm, wow I think I can do waaaay better than that, pft..." Well my high ego friend, you just might be right. Prove those levels wrong and make your on ingenious creations. Who knows, it could be the next big thing perhaps. |
When designing a level you always want to keep your level looking smooth and crisp. No laggy areas reducing the games frame rate. Its always nice to spread out and balance your ideas than keep them all ganged up in one place.
Gameplay is also a very important concept. You always want to know how you want the flow of the gameplay in your level rather than work on the look of it first. The actual look of the level always comes last. You don't want a super detailed level at the beginning and then a lesser-detailed level towards the end. You always want to keep consistency within your level. |
But hold your horses. I don't mean create a level that simply has a "Singing Sackbot" or something of that matter. I'm talking about a level showcasing your raw talent. This is LittleBigPlanet after all, and it would be great if others saw what you can really do. So let's throw all those bad ideas away and push them behind us. With the new tools in your hands you can create just about anything you want. Whatever comes to mind or whatever you see you can make it better.

Creating in LittleBigPlanet is just about as easy as using your fingers, coughing, grunting and existing. The real doozy is coming up with a fantastic idea that you’d want to set loose on the ever-ready community, promenading and flashing around like a brand new bike or modish clothing. It’s easy to jump in create mode with a blank mind and only go so far with your creations, but proper planning is the key to creating a masterpiece. Remember we’re in LittleBigPlanet 2, and not everything has to be limited to a run-and-jump-‘em-up – you could even search the community levels for inspiration to creating your unique magnum opus. Make something unique!

You can easily check around the Team Picks of LittleBigPlanet to get some inspiration to create your own level – remember, everything is a branch on something else. We simply change something that already exists by tweaking it, adding to it, combining it with something else, giving it a different use, taking something away, or making something more efficient. So why not take some inspiration from an older game, for instance? Add on to something you know, or remake it with some changes. Retro games into LittleBigPlanet do unusually well, but it’s becoming a mainstream ordeal. Could you be the next pioneer of the LittleBigPlanet 2 community? I think you could.

When you’re finally done with your level or showcase you’re ready to publish to your earth. This is judging time; this is how you receive acclaim or criticism depending on how the community take your level. If you’ve worked hard enough, it will pay off, and you could soon see fame with your fantastic creations! What matters is the critical response, and how you take it. If people generally think you can improve, then improve. If they think you’re doing well, improve too – let the audience be prone to surprises in your upcoming levels. This is what you should strive to achieve. After all, as a creator, it’s your job to impress!

What’s your profession? Just because we’re restricted to making “levels” as our sole medium of showing off, it doesn’t mean we have to make levels. If you’re not such a dab hand with creating actual levels, you can always showcase something else like art or music. These can, if you like, be given away to the community for use in their levels. Or, you can just showcase the music or art alone for critical response. You can even give away logic pieces, if you’re so inclined. Even parts of levels can make it into LittleBigPlanet’s community for judging and critique! Just because it’s not a full level doesn’t mean it’s unworthy of reputation.

Once you hit that save button on your 'My Moon' head back to your 'POD' and hit publish. Remember once publishing your work, the world is open to your creations so do make sure when you've publish it, it works right. Of course if players ever run into an issue upon playing your level you can always update the level by publishing an exact copy of the level over the same level
Keep in mind that upon publishing a level, its out there for the whole world to see. Players who play your level can comment, rate, and review your work via the LittleBigPlanet game your playing. If your the type who can't take constructive criticism you can disable your profile comments, reviews and level comments via lbp.me
