Infinitum - Aurorium Studio America

Infinitum is a free open source game engine software for computers that run Windows. It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for high-quality textures, effects, logical processing, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools. An active and growing online community provides friendly help, tutorials, and plugins.

Soft Shadows

Infinitum features a somewhat near-reality natural lighting effect with low memory usage. This lighting effect creates soft shadows that dynamically respond to natural in-game movements that mimic actual real-life moments in real time. Soft shadows are also rendered at a high resolution the closer you are to them.

Irradiance Volumes

Irradiance Volumes is a system used for creating very high performance lighting that is able to simulate real time radiosity and add color to reflected in-game light. In addition, Irradiance Volumes allow developers and creators to effectively place as many lights as needed in a scene until their heart's content.

Global Illumination

Infinitum features a remarkable real-time dynamic global illumination effect. It is fully optimized for high-end hardware and low-end hardware. However, Global Illumination will a require pre-computation and geometric limits. With Global Illumination, you can experience light-bounces, light refractions and true color bleeding in a real-time.

Full Tessellation

Infinitum supports both OpenGL and DX11 hardware accelerated tessellation on all free form meshes, including full animated high-quality characters and objects. Creative artists can now enable tessellation in real-time in their user generated content. Infinitum features full support for three different types of tessellation, all of which can be mixed together for visual better visual quality.

Local Reflections

Infinitum introduces the method of Real-time local reflections. RLR approximates a given ray-traced HDR reflection to local to objects. Meaning anything and everything within a distance can be reflected on any surface, such as a nearby building being reflected in the water at your feet. This powerful technique allows in-game matter to be reflected by nearby surroundings efficiently in real time.

Parallax Occlusion Mapping

Parallax Occlusion Mapping in Infinitum is fully optimized for for the PC platform and can be used to add self-shadowing and the appearance of depth on all surfaces. Infinitum's POM efficiently approximates surface displacement in full tangent space.

Space Ambient Occlusion

SAO provides a real-time simulation of ambient light occlusion in any 3D scene allowing the real darkening of edges and corners as it would be in the real world.

Shader Model Times Three

Infinitum shaders are written in an efficient computing language to promote the best performance, and is then compiled automatically to each object on screen. Shader output is optimized based on the artists' settings and the 3D environment in which the shader is used. This creates unique, high-performance effects, such as cloaking or wet, muddy and frozen surfaces, which can be layered together and combined with other shaders such as metal, glass and a full range of similar visual effects.

4K UHD Resolution

4K UHD is a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 pixels, which is over 8.3 megapixels and is one of the two resolutions of an ultra high definition television. The other being 8K UHD which is 7680 pixels × 4320 pixels, which is 33.2 megapixels. 4K UHD has exactly twice the horizontal and vertical resolution of the 1080p HDTV with four times as many pixels.
With this level of resolution, Infinitum can produce ultra sharp images.

Cross Platform Play

Cross Platform Play allows the Infinitum to be ported to another device with ease and then allow the devices to work with one another with ease. For example, say for instance you want to play Infinitum on your Home PC but you have a powerful desktop PC. In this case, you'd might want to use your mobile copy of the Infinitum on your PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®Vita system and then continue playing. Cross Platform Play also allows you to play with two completely different devices and be able interact with each other via online. With this amount of freedom, the Infinitum can be accessed from just about anywhere.

Maximum Processing Power

In addition to quality, we also want efficiency in our games too. Our main goal is to always put performance efficiency before the quality, but it's a bit complex to balance these things out with one another. One key factor that we want to promote the most in our game engine is it's processing power. Since our engine doesn't just rely on brute force graphical power, it must also focus on processing the logic behind user created scenes. Some user created logic might be more complex than others. This demands a lot of processing power for your computer's CPU.

Framerate Balance

Framerate is always key when creating a beautiful game, and we're all eyes and ears as to what will create the most efficient frame rendering on screen. Infinitum runs at a constant 70 frames per second on a normal computer monitor but can be up-scaled when put on a television with a higher refresh rate.
